Microsoft’s Major Nelson let slip in a series of tweets that the Star Wars Xbox 360 Kinect bundle will land on April 3rd. The set, which was first unveiled, fittingly, at Comic Con, is dressed up like R2-D2 and ships with a C-3P0-themed controller, a white Kinect sensor and the games Star Wars Kinect and Kinect Adventures. The 320GB system will run you $449, so start saving up those Galactic Credits now.

According to multiple reports today, Nintendo will reveal a new console at E3 this coming June.
Game Informer first reported the details, saying the console is capable of running games at “HD resolutions.” Our sources have said the the console is significantly more powerful than the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and that Nintendo’s intent is to recapture the hardcore market. Another source said it is capable of 1080p resolutions.
Nintendo is reportedly showing the console to publishers to garner interest for a late 2012 launch.
Additional sources tell IGN that Nintendo will release a pre-announcement this month with a full reveal expected at E3 and that the console will be backwards compatible with current Wii software.
A report from CVG states the new Nintendo console will use an all-new controller – not an updated Wii controller – with sources saying it will have a built-in screen. Additional sources informed IGN the screen has touch capability.

Research In Motion Ltd. (RIM) co-Chief Executive Officer Jim Balsillie said criticism of the company’s PlayBook tablet computer, which goes on sale next week, are misguided because they ignore RIM’s base of BlackBerry faithful.
Technology columnists criticized the 7-inch tablet for its limited number of applications, lack of built-in e-mail and inability to connect to mobile-phone networks — issues that won’t be remedied until new software and further editions of the device are introduced later this year. Some critics suggested RIM rushed an unfinished device to market, a charge Balsillie refutes.
“I don’t think that’s fair,” said Balsillie, 50, in a television interview with Bloomberg News yesterday, pointing out that more than 60 million BlackBerry smartphone users can pair their phones and PlayBooks to read e-mail and connect to the Internet. “A lot of the people that want this want a secure and free extension of their BlackBerry.”
RIM will need those loyal customers to help it come from behind in the tablet market. Apple Inc. (AAPL), which put its first iPad on the market last April, has sold more than 15 million units and Samsung Electronics Co., Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. and Dell Inc. have all introduced tablets already.
While RIM hasn’t forecast how many of the devices it will sell, Balsillie said the opportunity is significant.
“I like our chances for a lot of share,” he said. “We’re very excited about where we are.”

What, you thought we were stopping with our exclusive hands-on with the BlackBerry Touch (Monaco / Monza)? Not at all, we’re back at it with the big boy in RIM’s 2011 lineup: the BlackBerry Bold Touch. We first scooped this smartphone back in January and we have to say, it most certainly looks better in person compared to the product renders — and that’s pretty spectacular seeing how appetizing those renders looked. The unit itself is extremely solid and the touchscreen is very responsive… and who could forget that great and spacious BlackBerry keyboard? The BlackBerry Bold Touch also uses a new battery from RIM, so hopefully the addition of a touchscreen to this famous BlackBerry form factor won’t have too much of a negative impact on battery life. We’re told the device will be announced at BlackBerry World and a global release is slated for the June-July time frame. Make sure to check out all the photos in our hands-on gallery!

Part of RIM’s upcoming 2011 BlackBerry lineup we leaked in January contained the company’s latest evolution of a full touchscreen device, the BlackBerry Monaco / Monza. Both names are codenames that signify different carriers the phone will land on, we’re told — Verizon Wireless will get the Monaco while the BlackBerry Monza is the global GSM version. In any case, the BlackBerry Storm is a thing of the past and RIM finally realizes that its SurePress innovation wasn’t innovative at all. In fact, it was probably one of the biggest complaints users had with the orignal BlackBerry Storm.
The new device, most likely not a member of the Storm family — it may launch as the BlackBerry Touch, though that’s not confirmed — is a thinner, faster and sexier BlackBerry handset. It will run BlackBerry OS 6.1 and as part of the new OS, users will need a BlackBerry ID to login to the system. This is something we’ve been throwing around in our heads for a while — the concept is that you have a BlackBerry ID as opposed to a PIN, which might help facilitate a cloud-type service for backing up data and restoring it, sharing contact information, switching devices, and so on — all tied to your BlackBerry ID. In any case, OS 6.1 looks to be pretty similar to OS 6.0, but we’ll have to see if RIM has any surprises left for us in the three to four months before the BlackBerry Bold Touch is released.
Finally, we’re also hearing that RIM will make all of the devices we exclusively leaked official at BlackBerry World in May — the BlackBerry Bold Touch, BlackBerry Curve Touch, BlackBerry Torch 2 and BlackBerry Touch (BlackBerry Monaco / Monza). Looks like it’s shaping up to be quite a show!

Wow, thats great news! Blackberry RIM has announced that they are going to be compatible with Android Apps! I was so worried that Playbook is not going to have enough apps. That means Playbook is going to be compatible with 200,000 apps from Android. Now I definitely will have to get a Playbook!
